Where do I start. First off I want to say that I try not to rate restaurants based on service. If I like the food I'll give 4 starts & leave one out if the service sucked. So, how is it that you can have bad service from a cafeteria style restaurant? Because the person that literally has to deal with you for 2 minutes tops is either miserable of just doesn't give a shit about his/job. I walk into this restaurant wanting to try their Ox tail. I had only 1 request (please give me the bigger pieces) she said "this is oxtail their's no meat on the tail of the cow, sorry what comes up on the spoon is what we serve" after serving me a plate FULL OF BONES the proceeded to ask me with an attitude "do you want sauce on the rice?" Initially I wanted to snap.... But then the Jedi inside me said screw this miserable beast, I'm not about to buy into her misery.... I've got YELP!!! The truth is I didn't even eat the food. This lady made my experience so uncomfortable that I just walked out without saying a word. So, in conclusion if you want an angry person to serve your food & your into F-you this is what you get service this is your spot. They should seriously consider renaming their oxtail dish to a plate full of bones with oxtail sauce on the rice.

Went here today for the first time. I had the chicken creole and ox tail, a prestige, and topped it off with a Haitian coffee. Good service and family owned.

I really wanted to like this place. It is not a chain and the staff is very friendly. Probably family run. The exact type of place I love to frequent. However, the food just wasn't worthy of even a second visit. We had goat, oxtail and chicken in various dishes. The dishes were bland. The meat was cooked well but there was just no real "flavor" The rice came with a sauce that had almost no taste. All it did was make the rice wet. How a restaurant could serve up all these great haitian/creole dishes but have them all taste so bland, I just don't understand...

In the mood for something different? Something that sets off a sensation of multiple pleasures in your mouth and warms your soul. Try Mangoe's Caribbean Bistro, located off the turnpike along Eureka. The restaurant, which opened in December 2007, serves up traditional meals from Haiti, as well as other mouthwatering dishes from throughout the Caribbean islands. Mangoes serves up a great spicy homemade honey mango sauce that is served on grilled chicken and pork chops. The addition of Scotch bonnet peppers adds a flavor punch to the tropical fruit-baked glaze. Another popular item is the griot (fried pork), which is the best I have tasted in comparison to many other restaurants. The meat is so tender and flavorful that you can't help but smile. Mangoe's offers lunch Specials everyday from $ 4.99 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and the Dinner entrees range from $6.50 to $16. They are open seven days a week, MON-THURS 11:30 am to 8:30 pm, and on FRI-SAT, they are open until 9:00 pm. Sundays they are open from 10:30 am to 1 pm. Just a little warning, everything curried, jerked, fried or grilled is made to order so expect to wait a little bit for your meal. But it is a small price to pay for really good homemade food. All meals come with white rice or rice and beans, salad, and tostones-style fried plantains. Oh and before you leave try their rum soaked rum cake..just have a designated driver.

The food itself was good. I had chicken ,white rice and beans. The customer service on the other had was not all that great. I enjoyed the food so I visited the restaurant two days consecutively. The first day it took a while to be served as the person in the restaurant held leisure conversation before inquiring on the customer. I ordered through two people before someone actually served the food. The second day I got a woman that was not welcoming. Didn't engage in convo or no smile. When fixed my food it was not the same portion that I had gotten the day before. When i complained she brought someone else that basically said that I didn't know what I was talking about. When visiting several other Haitian restaurants in the area the portions are outstanding and much cheaper. I work nearby so I would visit again only if it's just what I want at the moment and the convenience of the location but most likely I would take the drive to eat in somewhere more comfortable and welcoming. Customer service is the number one priority.

While the location may be a bit of an inconvenience with the growing traffic and (what seems to be) never-ending construction in the area, Mangoes has amazing island food. This restaurant is a family owned business and there is a possibility of a small language barrier, for those who may not be able to decipher heavy accents, but the service for the most part is still pretty good. There have been a few times where I felt as though the service was not up to par but, it seemed as though the woman was the only one working at the time so, I took into account that she had to be in the back preparing meals, and ringing up customers by herself into consideration. Most of the food is made to order, so a wait is expected. A small price to pay for hot and fresh food to enjoy. If you have the time to stop by and are in the area, try the Griot (if you eat pork) it is absolutely amazing and I believe I order it almost every time I stop by for a meal. The lunch spe
